It may come as no surprise that I’ve had a terrible experience with my car. I’ve had unexplainable issues with lights dimming, engine noise while playing the radio, random shutdowns, doors not unlocking, clock and trip-o-meter resetting themselves, and car accidents. I for one count this as a bad omen. I am partially to blame for all of this and now I know why. Unknown to most people, I named my car “James Bond” because it reminded me of all those James Bond cars with the silver color, sleek lines, ok… it doesn’t make sense with a Jetta of all cars.
However, that is what I named the car. Any sailor will tell you that it is bad luck to name any vessel other than a woman’s name. Maybe it’s just a myth but I certainly believe in it now. Superstitions can be seen as silly things to believe in them but when these things start happening they take on a whole other meaning. I’d never been in an accident while driving for years before I had this car, and then all of a sudden, I had two in a span of 6 months. Things were not looking good.
As a result of my superstition and overall uneasiness with this vehicle, I decided to buy a new one. Yes, I bought a new car. It’s a sweet ride too. It’s still in the same family of VWs, hell it’s even the same model, just upgraded and not sucky. It’s a 2006 Jetta GLI. I posted some pictures on Flickr.
I have to say that I got a really good deal on the trade-in of my old car and a great deal on my new car. I won’t go into specifics because frankly, it’s not any of your business. :) I did the research before I went there, and I know I didn’t get taken as some car dealerships end up doing to you.
The technical specs on my car are the following:

Anyways, you could say that I’m quite happy with this new purchase. Obviously it’s one hell of an upgrade. I’m just glad that I have a warrenty again. That was one of the main reasons of ditching the old car. I was getting more and more worried about it breaking down again and having to pay up a ton of cash to fix that thing. Every little noise I heard while driving was another reason to worry that it was about to cease running. Well, at least it’s no longer my problem.
Oh and before I dash out, I’d like to wish my beautiful girlfriend, Nichole the happiest valentine’s day ever. I hope you liked the flowers. ;) Also, I’d like to wish my sister the happiest birthday ever. You’re a respectable….. twenty-six year old? ;) I won’t tell if you don’t.
